Collapsed Culvert Closes section of John Street Road

May 5, 2022 – John Street Road is closed between Community Hall Road and Mapleward Road due to a collapsed culvert near Mapleward Road.
Local traffic only.
Motorists are asked to plan an alternative route, to drive with caution, and obey all signage in the area of the road closure.

Emergency Road Maintenance Closes section of River Street

May 5, 2022 – River St. will be closed between Algoma St. N and College St. due to emergency road maintenance.
The section of River St. between Peter St. and Farrand St. will be completely closed with no flow thru traffic. Local traffic can access residences between both College St. and Peter St., and Algoma St. N and Farrand St., but are asked to exercise caution.
The public should not use this section of side walk in this area as well. The duration of the road closure is undetermined at this time.

South Water Street Closed for Watermain Break Repair

A watermain break on South Water Street, between Pearl Street and Park Avenue, has necessitated a temporary road closure for repairs. The closure is expected to remain in effect until late tonight.
Motorists are asked to avoid this section of Water Street South, and to drive with caution in the area.

Calendar parking restrictions for residential streets and priority route restrictions will take effect Tuesday, Dec. 7.
The City of Thunder Bay implements calendar parking and priority route restrictions during the winter months to allow for snow plows to clear local streets more effectively.
Calendar parking ensures that when the plow arrives, at least one side of the street is clear of parked cars and the plow can clear one side per day.

The City’s Roads Section is working hard to manage the winter control conditions. All resources are currently cleaning up from the winter event that took place on Sunday.
Residents are asked to help us work efficiently- Be careful! Stay back when following a plow or sander. Give these large pieces of equipment extra room to maneuver. Do not pass. Turning a plow in an intersection often means the driver must back up while making the turn.
