Waste collection changes week before Easter

Curbside waste collection dates will change next week due to the Good Friday statutory holiday.

Garbage and recycling collection will move one day earlier for all residents. There will be no collection on Good Friday, April 18.


The following are the Easter holiday waste collection changes:

AREA 1 (Tuesday collection day): Collection moves to Monday, April 14

AREA 2 (Wednesday collection day): Collection moves to Tuesday, April 15

AREA 3 (Thursday collection day): Collection moves to Wednesday, April 16

City advances Temporary Shelter Village with new site recommendation

Following extensive analysis, engagement, and a commitment to community safety and wellbeing, the City has identified 1111 Fort William Road, a parcel of land owned by the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA), as the recommended site for the Temporary Shelter Village Initiative. City invites feedback on Council meeting structure and Council Committees

The governance structure of City Council in Thunder Bay could change, with the City looking for input on how Council operates.

Currently, City Council uses the Committee of the Whole system to receive reports, debate topics and make preliminary decisions on matters that govern Thunder Bay. Those decisions are then ratified, or confirmed at City Council.
