Ontario Government Program Continues to Move Forward, 15 Grants for Local Entrepreneurs

The Thunder Bay & District Entrepreneur Centre (EC) is pleased to announce the successful entrepreneurs who will receive a $5,000 grant through the 2020 Starter Company Plus program. The 2020 Starter Company Plus program, originally known as the Starter Company, is in its 6th year of operation and has been helping local entrepreneurs start up, expand, or buy their business.

COVID-19: Spring Recreational Programs Cancelled

The Recreation & Culture’s spring program sessions scheduled to start March 30 - April 30 are cancelled, and credits are being applied to all program registrants.
Staff will be available by phone on Wednesday, April 8 to process credit card refunds if preferred instead of a credit. Call 625-2227 or 684-3323 or email communityservices@thunderbay.ca. Do not leave credit card information over voicemail or email – staff will get back to you. Refunds may take up to three to four weeks to process.

The Public Notice Period has ended for municipal and public response to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) on the proposed cannabis retail store (J. SUPPLY CO. THUNDER BAY: 701 Memorial Ave. Unit 2).
The City of Thunder Bay has provided a response to the AGCO based on the Council approved Siting of Cannabis Retail Stores Corporate Policy.

Terry Fox Visitor Information Centre’s Service Area Closed to Public

Following the announcement of recreation facilities and program closures, Tourism Thunder Bay has taken additional steps to ensure the safety of the public and City staff members. The Terry Fox Visitor Information Centre’s visitor services area is now closed to the public, effective immediately. This decision was made to help with growing concerns around COVID-19 and the recommendation by the Ontario Chief Medical officer and Health Canada to practice social distancing.
