Thunder Bay Moves to COVID-19 Response Level Orange – Restrict

Thunder Bay will enter the Province’s Orange – Restrict (intermediate measures) category effective Monday, Dec. 7. The Orange category is outlined by the Province as “enhanced measures, restrictions and enforcement, avoiding any closures.”

Prince Arthur’s Landing Skating Rink to Open Dec. 7

The skating rink at Prince Arthur’s Landing will officially open on a daily basis from 12 pm to 8 pm beginning on Monday, Dec. 7.

Changes have been put in place for safety during COVID-19. At this time, the Water Garden Facility will remain closed until further notice. While the facility is closed, users are encouraged to come prepared and dress accordingly.

There continues to be increased calls to Thunder Bay Police and Superior North EMS for opioid poisonings (fatal and non-fatal) as a result of a toxic drug supply in Thunder Bay.In the first 15 weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic in Ontario, 695 people died of a confirmed or suspected opioid-related death, representing a 38% increase compared to the 15 weeks immediately preceding the pandemic. Visitors to City Facilities to Screen for Travel as of Monday

As of Monday, Nov. 30 at 12:01 am, the City’s active screening tool will not permit members of the public to enter any city facility if they have travelled outside of Northwestern Ontario in the previous 14 days.
