Unattended Cooking Cause of Weekend Fire

January 16, 2017 - Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to a structural fire early Sunday morning on Empress Avenue. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control and a female occupant was sent to hospital as a precaution. The cause of the fire was unattended cooking which caused extensive damage to the kitchen. No one else was home at the time of the fire.

Section of Riverdale Road Closed Due to Water Main Break

January 12, 2017 - A section of Riverdale Road has closed to through traffic while repairs are made to a broken water main.
Riverdale Road will be closed at the 1490 address going south. There will be access to Riverdale Road from Highway 61 up to this address, but no through traffic. Access to residences north of 1490 Riverdale Rd. and all residences on Riverdale Road West, Kamview Road and Kamwood Drive will be via 20th Side Road only.

January 5, 2017 - Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, the Lakehead University Thunderwolves and Tbaytel have partnered to release limited edition cards of this year's varsity hockey team that highlight fire safety messaging.
"Fire and life safety education is one of our top priorities," said Anthony Stokaluk, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Public Education Officer. "These cards give us a unique way to promote our fire safety messages to Thunder Bay's hockey fans."
