City Announces Live on the Waterfront Summer Line-up

July 6, 2016 - The full line-up for the 2016 Live on the Waterfront music series was announced today, with eight free outdoor shows planned.
These free events take place on the main stage at Marina Park every Wednesday evening from 6 pm to 9 pm, beginning July 6 with featured headliner Joel Plaskett. Each evening will have a different theme including folk, rock, blues, country, Celtic, and dance.
A total of 24 diverse acts are taking part, with the season wrapping up on August 24 with featured headliners...
Neebing River Trail to Close as Bridge Work Begins

July 5, 2016 - The multi-use trail that runs beneath the Neebing River Bridge on Highway 61, just north of Arthur Street, will be temporarily closed tomorrow, July 6, to accommodate rehabilitation work on the Ministry of Transportation's bridge.
The trail, which connects Wolverine Crescent in Parkdale to Thornloe Drive in Northwood, will be completely closed during working hours for several days as a temporary, covered, and illuminated walkway is constructed to protect trail users during construction....
Province Activates Disaster Recovery Assistance for Thunder Bay and Surrounding Area

July 5, 2016 - Ontario has notified the City of Thunder Bay and surrounding municipalities that it has activated the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians program in their communities due to recent flooding in the area.
Affected individuals, small businesses, farmers and not-for-profit organizations who have experienced essential property damage or loss as a result of this disaster may be eligible to receive help with expenses.

Invasive Emerald Ash Borer Confirmed in Thunder Bay

June 30, 2016 - Following an thorough examination, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) - the federal agency responsible for regulating and managing invasive species - confirmed that the invasive Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) has been detected in Thunder Bay.
EAB is an invasive beetle native to Asia that is responsible for devastating millions of ash trees across North America. Thunder Bay represents the most northern city in which the pest has been found to date.

City Crews Respond to Arthur Street West Water Main Break

June 29, 2016 - City crews have responded to a water main break that occurred this morning on Arthur Street West, near the Ministry of Natural Resources base just before Vanguard Avenue.
The break has been isolated and work is underway to repair the pipe. Traffic has not been affected at this time.
As a result of the break, residents in the surrounding area may experience low water pressure or discoloured water, and a limited number of customers may have no water service.
