2016 Road Work Season Continues

June 9, 2016 - The road work season in Thunder Bay is now underway. Projects to be undertaken in 2016 include road and sidewalk rehabilitation, residential paving, sewer and watermain repair/replacement, bridge and culvert work and streetlight renewal.

The City of Thunder Bay is investing $19.1 million in 2016 on these improvements and related infrastructure.

City Announces 2016 Canada Day Festivities

June 7, 2016 - The Recreation & Culture Division announced details of the upcoming Canada Day festivities, which are scheduled for Friday, July 1, at Marina Park.

With past attendance estimated at over 20,000, Canada Day remains Thunder Bay's largest annual single-day event. The festivities begin at 5:30 pm with entertainment and activities for people of all ages.

Mayor Hobbs Declares June 7 Weed Out Hate Day

June 7, 2016 - Today has been proclaimed Weed Out Hate Day in Thunder Bay. Mayor Keith Hobbs along with children and staff from Little Lions Waldorf Daycare & Kindergarten and McKellar Park School planted sunflowers as a commitment to peace in Thunder Bay.

Boil Water Advisory Issued for Trowbridge Campground

June 2, 2016 - A boil water advisory will be in effect for Trowbridge Falls Campground when it opens for the season on Friday, June 3.

While the distribution system has been chlorinated and flushed, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) issued the boil water advisory as final water quality test results have not yet been received.

Campers will be notified upon entrance to the park, and each tap within the campground will display signage with information regarding the boil water advisory.

City on the Hunt for Invasive Emerald Ash Borer

June 2, 2016 - Residents may notice new green prism traps hanging from City trees this summer.  These detection traps will be used to monitor for the presence of Emeral Ash Borer (EAB) in Thunder Bay. There are approximately 50 traps being hung in the canopy of ash trees  on City boulevards and in City parks.
