Survey open on Backyard Home setbacks and accessible housing

Planning Services is asking for feedback on potential changes to the Zoning By-law. These changes would clear up inconsistencies in the Backyard Homes setback regulations and provide an opportunity for accessible apartments in the commercial Main Street Zone.

Grade 9 girls from schools across Thunder Bay will converge on Lakehead University on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023 for the INSPIRE – Sport & Health for Life event presented by Ontario Power Generation.

INSPIRE will connect girls with twenty local sport and activity providers in a fun format. Girls will meet leaders and role models, enjoy demonstrations, and participate in various sports and physical activities.

Mayor officially confirms City’s assigned housing target

This morning Mayor Ken Boshcoff sent a letter to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing to officially commit to meeting the provincially assigned housing target of 2,200 homes by 2031.

Starting next week, administration will begin meeting with Mayor Boshcoff to discuss potential impacts to operations and staff, impacts of delegating other powers to administration and/or council where applicable, and how decisions made using Strong Mayor powers will be communicated to the public....
