Temporary road closure on Summit Avenue and John Street

Summit Avenue at John Street will be closed to traffic on Wednesday, Dec. 18, and Thursday, Dec. 19, to complete important sewer lining work.
The north end of Summit Avenue will remain open to local traffic only. Drivers are encouraged to use alternative routes and drive with caution.
The City of Thunder Bay would like to thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work to improve infrastructure in our community.

HO HO HOLD the Waste - Holiday Waste Reduction Contest

To encourage waste reduction during the festive season, Thunder Bay Solid Waste & Recycling Services is pleased to announce its 2024 “Ho Ho Hold the Waste” Holiday Waste Reduction Contest, which invites local residents to show their creative and sustainable ways of reducing the amount of waste they produce during the holidays.

City to host Kashechewan First Nation Evacuees

The City of Thunder Bay has been requested by Indigenous Services Canada to assist Kashechewan First Nation by hosting vulnerable members of their community due to ongoing issues with the community’s Water Treatment Plant. Approximately 200 individuals have been identified for evacuation.
The Municipal Emergency Control Group convened yesterday to discuss this urgent request and has agreed that Thunder Bay will serve as a host community.

Students from Confederation College's post-graduate Health Informatics program showcased their capstone research projects today, sharing health indicator findings that will inform the City of Thunder Bay’s next Community Safety and Well-Being Plan.

After numerous revisions and incorporating public input, the proposed Boulevard Garden and Maintenance By-law will be presented to Thunder Bay City Council on Monday night.
