Access to the Marina Park Boat Launch

One of the launches at Marina Park will be accessible to the public on Sunday, Oct. 14, from 9 am – 7 pm. However, at this time, only those requiring use of the launch will be allowed access, as it will not be open for parking purposes.
The construction at Marina Park continues to be delayed due to weather conditions. It is tentatively scheduled to re-open with a new paved surface by Friday, Oct. 19.

Fifth Pedestrian Crossover Activated

To further improve safety for both pedestrians and drivers, the City activated its fifth pedestrian crossover on Arundel Street at Toledo Street.
Motorists and cyclists using Arundel Street must now stop when a pedestrian is waiting to cross, and the crossover lights start flashing. Crossovers make it easy, safe and convenient for people to cross the street.

Nor’wester View School Helps Kick-Off Fire Prevention Week

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue kicked-off Fire Prevention Week at Nor’wester View Elementary School today. Students from the grade 4/5 class educated a gymnasium full of classmates, teachers and Thunder Bay Fire Rescue personnel on general home fire safety and the importance of working smoke alarms.
Fire Prevention Week runs from Oct. 7-13, and this year’s theme is, “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere.”

Construction Delayed at Marina Park Boater’s Launch

The construction at the Marina Park Boater’s launch and parking lot has been delayed, and it is tentatively scheduled to re-open middle of next week.
During the closure, residents can use the Neste Boat Launch on Mountdale Avenue on the Kaministiquia River, or the Current River Boat Launch (Fisherman's Wharf) on Cumberland Street North. To access the Current River Boat Launch, turn right on Grenville Avenue, right onto Shipyard Road, and left onto Fisherman’s Road.
