Brave Participants Take the Conquer the Tower Plunge

On Thursday, Nov. 8, Conquer the Tower returned to the Canada Games Complex. Twelve brave participants worked hard to raise funds in support of PRO Kids and the Thunder Bay Diving Club. The more money they raised, the higher they had to jump off the diving towers.

“We are so proud of our participants,” said Laura Daniele, PRO Kids Coordinator. “Taking the plunge off one of the towers is no small feat, and they are facing their fears in order to raise money to help others.”

Road Work on Red River Road May Cause Delays

The City of Thunder Bay’s Sewer & Water North Section will be completing water valve maintenance on Red River Road, between Junot Avenue and the Thunder Bay Expressway. Lane closures will be in effect and traffic speeds will be reduced. Motorists can expect delays on Red River Road.

Motorist are asked to avoid the intersection if possible while City crews work. Signage will be in place to guide traffic safely away from the work area.

Ticket Issued to Business for Not Maintaining Extinguisher Maintenance Records

A Fort William Road business was issued a ticket from Thunder Bay Fire Rescue this week for failing to maintain extinguisher maintenance records. The ticket carried a fine of $235 stemming from a business license inspection done by Thunder Bay Fire Rescue. Businesses are responsible for keeping maintenance records for each portable fire extinguisher they have.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue received a $2000 donation of combination smoke/carbon monoxide (CO) alarms today from Union Gas. The donation provided Thunder Bay Fire Rescue with 54 combination smoke/CO alarms.
