City Announces Line-up of Winter FunDays Activities

The City of Thunder Bay is excited to announce the activity line-up for Winter FunDays, presented by 99.9 The Bay and Country 105. Winter FunDays start Sunday, Dec. 30, at Prince Arthur’s Landing and run every Sunday until March 17, 2019, from 2 pm to 4 pm unless specified otherwise.
Winter FunDays activities include:

Survey Polls Residents about Cannabis Retail Stores in the City

The City invites residents to share their input through an online survey about the future of cannabis retail in the City and whether or not allowing bricks-and-mortar stores would receive support from the community.
Municipalities have a one-time window to make a decision about whether to opt out of allowing private sector stores within the boundaries of the community. Otherwise, it is an automatic opt in that could see cannabis stores opening as early as April 1, 2019.

Male Students Pledge to End Violence against Women

In recognition of the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence against Women, which marks the anniversary of the 1989 École Polytechnique massacre, the Thunder Bay Crime Prevention Council and partners created a short video featuring male student leaders from grade seven to 10 speaking out about gender-based violence. Male Students Attend Training on Gender-based Violence

Nearly 50 grade seven to 10 male students from Lakehead Public Schools throughout the city are attending the Engaging Male Students to Reduce and Prevent Gender-Based Violence workshop today aimed at preventing gender-based violence against women and girls.
