Designated Truck Route By-law Deferred to Future Meeting Date

The Designated Truck Route By-law scheduled to go before City Council on Monday, April 29, has been withdrawn, to be rescheduled to a later date. Any deputations relating to this by-law will be rescheduled with the by-law. 

It was recommended by Committee of the Whole that the by-law be deferred to a date when all of City Council will be present. The new date will be communicated to the public once set.

City Crews Respond to Broadway Avenue Water Main Break

Broadway Avenue, west of Highway 61, Lynda Avenue and Kerega Avenue are closed due to a water main break.

Residents are asked to use Rosslyn Road as there is no access to Broadway Avenue from Highway 61.

The road will be closed to through traffic however, local traffic will be permitted from the west side. Motorists are asked to use extra caution and obey all posted signage when travelling near the construction areas.

Citizen Satisfaction Survey Now Available Online for Residents

For those residents who were not contacted by telephone for the 2019 Citizen Satisfaction Survey, they now have an opportunity to share their views online until April 30.

The City of Thunder Bay commissioned Ipsos, a professional public opinion research company, to conduct the 2019 survey by telephone to a random selection of 500 residents for a two week period, April 2 - 16.

Early Spring Increases Traffic at Solid Waste & Recycling Facility

The City’s landfill is experiencing larger visitor volumes than normal and is asking residents to be patient during this time. Traffic increases significantly in the spring, and the early arrival of warm weather has many residents cleaning up ahead of schedule.

Customers can assist in the process by organizing their load at home. This will help visitors get in and out of the site quickly. The load should be organized for easy removal at the various proper laydown areas.

Structural Fire

Thunder Bay Fire & Rescue responded at 11:40 to a Tamarack Place home this morning, Fire had started in garbage piled beside home.  Wall and siding was damaged. Occupants were safely evacuated.

The quick response of the Thunder Bay Fire & Rescue service was able to keep the fire from penetrating the wall and therefore no damage to interior of home was sustained.
