Training With a Pro: The Hockey Edition Returns This Summer

Young Thunder Bay residents wanting to learn what it takes to become a professional hockey athlete are invited to find out, with the help of a few local NHL players, at a special training clinic on August 22. 

PRO Kids’ Training With a Pro: The Hockey Edition is back for its third year, offering children and youth – between the ages of five and 15 – a chance to meet, exercise and train with their idols. 

This year, three of Thunder Bay’s favourite hockey pros will be featured in one clinic....

Muskeg Express Mini Train Ride Back on Track Tomorrow

The Muskeg Express mini train ride at Centennial Park will be back in operation starting Wednesday, July 4 after being out of service last season.

The ride was closed last year to allow for necessary inspections and repairs to be completed to ensure safe operation. Repairs to the ride have now been successfully completed, and approved by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority.

The ride is open seasonally, weather permitting, noon – 4 pm, Wednesdays to Sundays. The last ride of the day takes place...

Road Construction on Arthur Street Starts Next Week

Road construction and storm sewer work on Arthur Street, from Leland Avenue to James Street, begins the week of July 2.

The work will include the construction of storm sewer and pavement restoration on the north side of Arthur Street. It will also include trench activity and pipe installation in westbound traffic lanes, and repaving to the centre of the road.

Arthur Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction, and diverted to the south side of the road. There will be left-turn restrictions.

City Launches Engaging New Municipal Website

The City of Thunder Bay launched a new website today at City Hall aimed at enhancing access to City information and services and strengthening engagement with citizens.

Using a responsive design, the site is mobile friendly and built for accessibility, meeting AA accessible standards. Traffic to the City’s website continues to increase each year, with an average of 5,316 visitors a day to the site.

City’s AA Credit Rating Reaffirmed

Thunder Bay's strong budgetary performance, prudent financial management practices, low municipal debt burden, and excellent liquidity balances have led S&P Global Ratings to reaffirm the City`s credit rating of ‘AA’.
