Busy 2018 Roadwork Season Begins

The City of Thunder Bay is investing $25.6 million in 2018 on a number of infrastructure improvements including road and sidewalk rehabilitation, residential paving, sanitary and storm sewer and watermain repair/replacement, bridge and culvert work, and streetlight renewal.

Celebrating Crossing Guard Appreciation Day Today

June 1, 2018 - The City of Thunder Bay is once again celebrating the individuals that continue to make its crossing guard program a success with the 13th annual Crossing Guard Appreciation Day today.

The crossing guard program has been in place since 1947; currently 60 crossing guards are employed at the City of Thunder Bay.

Curbside Battery Recycling Program Returns Tuesday

June 1, 2018 - The City's Curbside Battery Recycling Program returns on June 5, giving residents an opportunity to conveniently and safely recycle spent household batteries.

Section of Edward Street to Close

May 30, 2018 - A section of Edward Street, between Parkway Drive and Churchill Drive, will be closed due to road and watermain work starting Friday, June 1. 

Construction began on Wednesday, May 23, and allowed for southbound traffic up until this point. The road will now be closed to traffic. Construction is expected to take up to four weeks to complete.

Signs will be posted. Motorists are asked to use extra caution and obey all posted signage when travelling near the construction area.

Fire Ban Lifted, Outdoor Burning Permits Reinstated

May 29, 2018 - Thunder Bay Fire Rescue has lifted the citywide fire ban due to recent improvements in weather conditions. All valid outdoor burning permits are reinstated.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue reminds residents that outdoor burning within the City of Thunder Bay requires a permit. Permits are valid for the calendar year in which they are purchased. Permit rules and regulations are strictly enforced, and failure to obtain a permit or follow permit rules will result in prosecution and fine.
