Section of Dawson Road to be Reduced to One Lane of Traffic

May 18, 2018 - A section of Dawson Road, between Hunter Road and Hazelwood Drive, will be reduced to one lane of traffic due to asphalt resurfacing work after the May long weekend.
Construction is scheduled to start on Tuesday, May 22 and is expected to take up to three weeks to complete.
The construction schedule is subject to change as various factors, such as weather, can have an impact on project timelines.

Westbound Lanes of Section on Red River Road to Close

May 18, 2018 - The westbound lanes of Red River Road, from High Street to approximately 100 metres west, will be closed due to sidewalk and retaining wall repairs.
Construction is scheduled to start the week of May 22, and will continue for about eight weeks, or until work is complete.
Motorists are asked to use extra caution and obey all posted signage when travelling near the construction area. Pedestrians are asked to use an alternate route as the sidewalk section will be closed.

Curbside Leaf & Yard Waste Collection Begins Next Week

May 17, 2018 - Curbside collection of organic leaf and yard waste will take place May 22 - June 1, on regular recycling days. Leaf and yard waste collection dates were pushed forward due to the slow start to spring.
Residents are reminded that only Kraft (paper) bags of leaf and yard waste will be accepted. There is no bag limit, but bags must not weigh more than 40 lbs. (18 kg).
Sticks and branches will also be collected, but must be bundled with rope or twine, and be under one metre (39 inches)...

May 16, 2018 - The City of Thunder Bay is proud to announce the 38th Annual Kite Festival presented by Ontario Power Generation.
The City of Thunder Bay's annual celebration of flight is back at Chippewa Park on Sunday, June 3 from 12 pm to 4 pm. Families are invited to fly their own kites, watch the Pro Fliers take over the sky with Giant Kites, and learn about different forms of flight.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Issues Fire Ban

May 15, 2018 - Effective at noon today, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue has issued a fire ban on all outdoor burning within the City of Thunder Bay. The ban on outdoor burning is consistent with the recent Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests Restricted Fire Zone declaration.
