Section of Simpson Street Closing for Sewer and Water Work

September 4, 2015 - The section of Simpson Street that runs from the May/Arthur Street intersection to Victoria Avenue will close to all through traffic next week to allow for the installation of new storm sewers.

The closure is scheduled to begin the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 9, and is expected to last three weeks.

The construction schedule is subject to change, as various factors, such as weather, can affect project timelines.

Update on 2012 Flood Class Action Proceedings - City Serving Third Party Notice to Approximately 200 Property Owners Regarding Failure to Disconnect Rainwater Leaders or Downspouts

September 1, 2015 - The claimants have recently agreed to discontinue a second Flood Class Action against the City, which started about two years after the initial action. Both actions arose out of the May 28, 2012 flood disaster.

City Marks International Overdose Awareness Day

August 31, 2015 - As a symbol of condolence for International Overdose Awareness Day, flags were lowered to half-staff today at City Hall, and 37 t-shirts were displayed, to recognize each life lost in 2013 to an overdose.

Held annually on August 31, the goal of this day is to raise awareness about overdose, to reduce the stigma associated with substance use and drug related deaths, while acknowledging the impact overdose has on families, friends and communities. The event originated in Australia...

Sewer and Water Work Scheduled for Northern Avenue

August 28, 2015 - Northern Avenue at Syndicate Avenue North will be closed for five days beginning at 7 am on Monday, Aug. 31 for sewer and water work.

Crews will be performing a number of upgrades to the sewer and water system during the project, including water valve replacement, hydrant relocation, catch basin replacement, and the installation of new storm sewers.
