City Invites Public Feedback on Pandemic Response

The City of Thunder Bay is conducting a review of its emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic. To gain a full 360° perspective of response efforts to date, the City is inviting public feedback through an online survey and in-person focus group sessions. An internal review of actions, process, and procedures during the pandemic will accompany the public and stakeholder engagement.

Fall Street Sweeping Underway

In preparation for winter, city crews have begun the fall street sweeping program. The fall street sweeping program focuses on the removal of leaves and debris from blocking the storm sewer drains. It started this week and typically runs until the middle of November.
Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to take extra caution when approaching this operation.

James Street Closed Between Donald Street and Arthur Street

Beginning Friday Oct. 14, a section of James Street will be closed to allow for road work to be completed.
The work is anticipated to be completed and the road reopened in two days.
Motorists are asked to drive with caution in the area.

Section of Main Street to close for three days

Beginning Oct. 11, Main Street will be closed between Fort William Road and Hammond Avenue to allow for the installation of City water works. The road is anticipated to be reopened on Oct. 14.
During the closure all traffic will be required to detour via the Central Avenue overpass, Maureen Street and Hammond Avenue.
Motorists are asked to obey the construction signs, drive with caution, and use alternate routes around the construction zone.

20th Sideroad Closed between Arthur Street and Rosslyn Road

20th Sideroad will be closed beginning Oct. 11 to allow CP to perform track maintenance.
Local access is available from both Arthur Street and Rosslyn Road but no through traffic will be permitted. A detour will be set up to direct motorists to use Trotter Road and Fairview Avenue.
The road is anticipated to reopen on Oct. 14.
Motorists are asked to obey the construction signs, drive with caution in the area and to contact City Dispatch at 625-2195 if they experience any issues.
