Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Lifts Fire Ban

At midnight tonight, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue will lift the City wide fire ban previously in place.
At that time, all valid outdoor burning permits will be reinstated. The fire ban being lifted is consistent with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests lifting the Restricted Fire Zone declaration.

MECG Evaluates First Phase of COVID-19 Situation

The Municipal Emergency Control Group (MECG) met today with various community partners as part of its ongoing management of the COVID-19 situation. Following consultation and communication with Fort William First Nation Chief Peter Collins, Chippewa Park will reopen to the public on Friday, May 29.
Some park amenities remain closed as per the Provincial Order, and signage is posted. Temporary Closure of Harbour Expressway & Balmoral Street Intersection

The intersection at the Harbour Expressway and Balmoral Street will be fully closed starting on Wednesday, May 27, at 6 am, until end of day Thursday, May 28. A posted detour will be available at Golf Links Road, Central Avenue and Carrick Street.
The closure is a necessary part of the road reconstruction and storm sewer installation on Balmoral Street, between Hewitson Street and Alloy Drive.
