City Launches Employee Spotlight Series During COVID-19

The City of Thunder Bay has developed an Employee Spotlight Series to highlight employees providing essential services during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic.

Boulevard Lake Dam Rehabilitation to Begin May 4

The Boulevard Lake Dam rehabilitation is set to begin on Monday, May 4, with the project expected to be completed by the end of 2021. The Boulevard Lake Dam Walkway will be closed for the duration of the project.
Starting at the end of June, water levels in Boulevard Lake will be lowered to install cofferdams needed to complete the work. As a result, summer activities including swimming, canoeing and kayaking will be suspended this summer.

Municipal Emergency Control Group Collaborates on COVID-19

The Municipal Emergency Control Group (MECG) held its weekly virtual meeting today with various community partners as part of its ongoing management of the COVID-19 situation.

The City of Thunder Bay is excited to host virtual programming this year in celebration of National Youth Week and Youth Arts Week from May 1 to May 7. The Recreation and Culture Division, along with other community partners, has arranged different activities for youth ages 12–24 to participate virtually throughout the week with a focus on well-being.All activities are free.

Road Construction to Close Section of James Street South

Starting on Monday, May 4, construction will begin on James Street South, between Gore Street and Kingston Street. Construction will include repairs to storm sewer and concrete sidewalk. Work is expected to take approximately nine weeks to complete.
Traffic heading north-south will be directed to take Mountdale Avenue, using Gore Street and Montreal Street.
Those travelling near the construction zone are asked to use extra caution and obey all posted signage.
