City Council Will Not Meet April 6

Meetings that were scheduled for Monday, April 6 for Committee of the Whole and City Council are cancelled. There are no decisions requiring immediate approval from Council at this time.

The next regular scheduled meeting is on Monday, April 20 and will proceed as scheduled.

Waste Collection Changes for Easter

Curbside waste collection dates, city wide, will change next week due to Good Friday.

Garbage and recycling collection will move one day earlier next week, starting on April 6, for all residents. There will be no collection on Good Friday.

The following are the Easter holiday waste collection changes:

COVID-19: City Confirms Temporary Reduction of Workforce

Facility closures and program suspensions have resulted in a temporary reduction in the City of Thunder Bay’s workforce by about one-third.

This includes temporary layoffs of up to 170 employees whose work does not allow them to work from home and a temporary shortage of work for about 620 part-time, casual and temporary employees who have not had work to do since facilities were closed and programs suspended.

Transit to Operate on Enhanced Sunday Service Starting April 6

Beginning Monday, April 6, Thunder Bay Transit will operate on an enhanced Sunday service schedule that will maintain early morning start times on all routes six days per week, Monday – Saturday. LIFT+ specialized service is not affected by these changes.

COVID-19: Spring Recreational Programs Cancelled

The Recreation & Culture’s spring program sessions scheduled to start March 30 - April 30 are cancelled, and credits are being applied to all program registrants.

Staff will be available by phone on Wednesday, April 8 to process credit card refunds if preferred instead of a credit. Call 625-2227 or 684-3323 or email communityservices@thunderbay.ca. Do not leave credit card information over voicemail or email – staff will get back to you. Refunds may take up to three to four weeks to process.
