City Receives Arbitration Award for Thunder Bay Firefighters

The City of Thunder Bay has received an Interest Arbitration Award for the Thunder Bay Professional Fire Fighters Association.
This award is determined by a provincially-appointed arbitrator, and is mandatory. It is a five year term collective agreement for the period January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2022 with general wage increases of:
- 1.91% (January 1, 2018),

The City of Thunder Bay has been recognized as having some of the best events in Ontario. Festivals and Events Ontario (FEO) has presented the City with two awards based on activities undertaken in 2019. pH of Water to Change as City Begins Phasing Out Sodium Hydroxide

The City of Thunder Bay is beginning to phase out the addition of sodium hydroxide to its water. This change will occur over the next two to three months. As a result, the pH of the water will decrease. Lead levels at the tap are expected to increase for customers with lead service pipes, returning to same level they were prior to 2018. There will be no disruption to water service during this adjustment period.
