Section of Balmoral Street to Undergo Road Construction

A section of Balmoral Street, between Hewitson Street and Alloy Drive, will undergo road reconstruction and storm sewer installation starting on Tuesday, May 19. 

A full closure of Balmoral Street, between Hewitson Street and the Harbour Expressway, will be conducted at the start of the construction and will last approximately 10 days. Building Owners to Maintain Water Safety When Re-Opening

The COVID-19 Pandemic has prolonged closures or reduced occupancy of many buildings in Thunder Bay. While the City is responsible to provide clean, safe drinking water to its customers, it is the responsibility of each building owner to ensure it maintains the safety of the water within their building.

When buildings are closed or have low occupancy for a prolonged period of time, water in the building becomes stagnant and can pose serious health risks.

Fire Ban Lifted, Outdoor Burning Permits Re-Instated

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue has lifted the City wide fire ban previously in place, and all valid outdoor burning permits have been reinstated.

The fire ban being lifted is consistent with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests lifting the Restricted Fire Zone declaration.

One Extra Item of Garbage Allowed Next Week

 The City will allow residents to put out a third item garbage with no tag, on the first collection date after the Victoria Day holiday. 

Residents are reminded to still try and reduce waste. Reducing waste saves energy, time, money and valuable natural resources. By making small changes to reduce waste in our everyday lives, it can make a powerful difference.
