Pool 6 Trail at Waterfront Closed as Art Gallery Construction Begins

The pedestrian trail connecting the boaters’ parking area at the Marina to the Pool 6 site has been closed in order to allow for the construction of the new Thunder Bay Art Gallery, which is now underway.

Pedestrians are still able to access the Pool 6 site by following the roadway. Both drivers and pedestrians are advised to be cautious while travelling in the area and to be aware of the construction happening near the road to Pool 6.

Council Approves 2024 Ontario Winter Games Organizing Committee

The Organizing Committee was approved last night to support the planning and delivery of the 2024 Ontario Winter Games. In April 2022, the Government of Ontario awarded the 2024 Ontario Winter Games to Thunder Bay for the first time since 1974. They will be taking place in two waves over two weekends; February 16 – 19 and 23 – 26.

City Launches Outdoor Rinks Map

Today, the City of Thunder Bay Parks and Open Spaces Division launched an Outdoor Rinks Map to make it easier for residents to find outdoor skating rinks in their area.

Along with photos of the rinks, each rink site listing identifies the address, hours of operation, number of rinks on the site, and if the site is supervised - as well as if the site has outside lighting, washrooms, change facilities, outdoor trash bins and adjacent parking.

Conservatory reopening due to change in construction schedule

The Centennial Botanical Conservatory will temporarily reopen on Monday, as there has been a change in the anticipated schedule of the Conservatory renewal project.
