Proposed 2023 City Budget Released

The proposed 2023 Municipal Budget was released to the public today during a presentation at City Hall. This year’s budget, that forms the starting point for City Council’s detailed review, provides an increase in the municipal tax levy after growth of $11.6 million or 5.6%.

City launches new online campground booking system

Reservations for the 2023 camping season at Trowbridge Falls and Chippewa Park campgrounds are now open online, in conjunction with the launch of the City’s new online campsite reservation system.

The new reservation system will improve the customer experience and allow booking 24 hours a day, seven days per week, from anywhere. Telephone booking remains available, and will be opening soon.

Chapples Sliding Hill Being Relocated

Beginning today, the sliding hill beside the outdoor tennis courts at Chapples will close and be relocated in preparation for construction of the new indoor tennis facility.

During the month of January, construction crews will move the soil from the existing hill to a new location south of Chapples Drive and west of the overflow parking lot. The work is expected to take the entire month of January. Extra Item of Garbage Allowed After New Year’s Day 2023

Due to the increase of waste during the holiday season, the City will allow households a third item of garbage at the curb, without a tag, on the first collection date after New Year’s Day.

Wrapping paper cannot be recycled because of its high ink content and must be thrown away. Wherever possible, residents are reminded to reduce household waste by using the six R’s:

  • Rethink: Think about waste before you buy. Avoid ‘disposable’ products.

Outdoor Supervised Boarded Rinks Now Open

The City’s supervised boarded outdoor rinks are now open for public skating.

Some of the unsupervised boarded rinks are open as well, while others require further flooding and maintenance prior to officially opening – check local signage.

Skating is permitted when rinks are closed, at the user’s discretion.
