Water Work May Cause Low Pressure in Mount Forest Blvd Area

Water work being completed on Riverdale Road today may cause low water pressure for residents in the Mount Forest area. The work is being completed on the water main feeding the areas north of Highway 61 and west of Mount Forest Blvd, as well as west of and including Mountain Rd.  

Work is expected to be complete by the end of the day.

Outdoor rinks closing for the 2022-23 season

Based on current ice conditions and forecasted snowfall and temperatures, the City’s outdoor rinks will be closing for the season this Monday, March 20.

Crews will be out clearing the rinks through the weekend and skating surfaces will be assessed. If they are found to be unsafe, they will be signed as closed and nets will be removed. Any rinks that are still safe for use will remain in operation until Sunday.

The City of Thunder Bay is inviting talent, food vendors, event vendors, artists/ artisans and community groups to apply to participate in the City’s annual community events season.

The 2023 events season includes 19 event days, including two event series: Live on the Waterfront and Movie Nights in the Parks. All events are free to the public and collectively draw tens of thousands of attendees.

Some Outdoor Rinks Closed Due to Spring Weather

As a result of the recent spring weather, ice conditions at the City’s outdoor rinks are deteriorating and some rinks have been closed for the season and some others are now “boot-only”.

The following rinks are closed:

  • Wilson Park rink
  • Third & High Park rink
  • Woodside Parkette pond
  • Anten Parkette pond
  • Picton Parkette pond
  • Waddington Park loop
  • Brent Park loop

The following rinks are boot-only:

  • James Street South rink
  • Minnesota Park rink
