Extra Item of Garbage Allowed After New Year’s Day

Due to the increase of waste during the holiday season, the City will allow residents to put out a third item garbage with no tag on the first collection date after New Year’s Day.

Residents are reminded that wrapping paper cannot be recycled because of its high ink content and must be thrown away in the garbage.
Residents are reminded to still try and reduce waste by using the six R’s:

City of Thunder Bay Announces Winter FunDays Activities

The City of Thunder Bay is excited to announce the activity line-up for Winter FunDays presented by 99.9 The Bay and Country 105. Winter FunDays start Sunday, December 22, at Prince Arthur’s Landing and run every Sunday until March 8, 2019 from 2pm to 4pm unless specified otherwise.

Hydrant Replacement May Impact Traffic on Arthur Street

The City of Thunder Bay’s Sewer & Water Section is replacing a fire hydrant on Arthur Street West, between Garden Avenue and Mapleward Road. Equipment may impact traffic flow at times. The replacement is taking place on Sunday, Dec. 15, and is expected to be completed by the end of the day.
Motorists are asked to use extra caution, reduce their speed, and obey all posted signage when travelling in the construction area.

Lieutenant Governor to host New Year’s Levee in Thunder Bay

Mayor Bill Mauro is pleased to announce that the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario’s New Year’s Levee will take place in Thunder Bay. The Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell will host the Levee on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, at the O’Kelly, VC Armoury, 317 Park Ave.
