6th Annual Walk in Support of Victims & Survivors of Crime

Victim support agencies, community safety organizations, victims, survivors, and their families and friends came together to show support for victims during the 6th Annual Walk in Support of Victims and Survivors of Crime yesterday evening. The walk was held in support of National Victims and Survivors of Crime Week (May 26 - June 1), which aims to raise awareness about the issues facing victims and survivors of crime and the services and laws in place to help victims, survivors and their families....
Celebrate the Value of the Urban Forest at Arbor Day

Arbor Day is a chance for residents to make Thunder Bay a cleaner, greener and more beautiful place to live. Organized by the City’s Parks & Open Spaces Section, Arbor Day will take place this Saturday, May 25, from 10 am – 12 pm, at Dalhousie Parkette.
The event will include the planting of large caliper trees and shrubs. There will also be an opportunity to speak with members of the EarthCare Thunder Bay’s Community Greening Group and learn more about the urban forest.

Commuter Challenge is heating up in two Ontario cities. Yesterday, Kingston Mayor Bryan Paterson challenged Thunder Bay’s Mayor Bill Mauro to a friendly competition between the two cities.
On Twitter, Mayor Paterson wrote, “#CommuterChallenge2019 #YGK had the highest participation rate for a Canadian mid-sized city for 5 years. Last year we were bested by @CityThunderBay. Residents Invited to Celebrate National Public Works Week

Residents are invited to celebrate National Public Works Week at a free open house this weekend that will highlight and celebrate the work that public servants do to keep our city running.
The open house for residents will take place on Saturday, May 25, from 11 am – 2 pm at the Mountdale Public Works Yard, 410 Mountdale Ave. The open house will feature:

The City is reminding motorists to exercise extra caution in construction zones by slowing down and driving safely.
Spring marks the start of a busy road construction season and projects will increase in the coming weeks. Construction crews are required to follow strict safety protocols and traffic control measures. Members of the public are asked to also do their part to keep workers and other travelers safe.
