TBFR Responds to Garage Fire/Fort William First Nation

Thunder Bay Fire & Rescue (TBFR) responded to a structure fire involving a large vehicle garage near a residential home on Fort William First Nation Reserve at approximately 10:30 am today.     First arriving crews were met with heavy smoke conditions inside of a garage with heavy fire involving the rear interior of the garage and spreading quickly towards the front half of the garage.

Free Compost Available to Residents Beginning Tomorrow

Weather permitting, free compost is available tomorrow to all residents at the Solid Waste and Recycling Facility while quantities last.

Access to the compost pick-up area is located east of the old landfill entrance on John Street Road. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 8:30 am - 5 pm, and Saturday from 9 am - 4 pm.

Thunder Bay Fire & Rescue (TBFR) responded at 14:51 to a High/Low Angle rescue at Centennial Park’s off leash Dog Park. During our response to this scene further information was received that a young female had entered the water to retrieve her dog both becoming stranded. They were located on a small rock outcrop with a cliff embankment behind them and fast moving water in front trapping them there.

The City of Thunder Bay is inviting everyone to ‘Quest: Thunder Bay's First Annual Tech & Gaming Event’, presented by Ontario Power Generation.

Leaf & Yard Waste Collection Takes Place Between May 14-24

The City of Thunder Bay’s spring curbside collection of organic leaf and yard waste will take place from May 14 - 24, on resident’s regular recycling days.

Homeowners must use Kraft paper bags for leaf and yard waste. Kraft bags are available at most hardware and grocery stores. Regular bag weight limits of 18 kg/40 lbs or less apply.

Branches and brush may also be left at the curb for collection. Bundles of branches must be less than one metre (39 inches) long and no more than 61 cm or (24 inches)...
