The City of Thunder Bay is working to create a concept plan that will help guide the future development of Northwood Playfield, including the possible installation of a splash pad.

As part of the City of Thunder Bay’s strategy to provide splash pads across the city, the Parks & Open Spaces Section is now in the planning stages to implement its next splash pad. Section of 20th Side Road to Close for Rail Crossing Rehabilitation

20th Side Road, from Arthur Street to Rosslyn Road, will be closed to through traffic on Wednesday, June 26, to allow for rehabilitation work on the CP rail crossing.  The closure is expected to be complete by the end of the day.

The construction schedule is subject to change, as various factors – such as weather – can have an impact on project timelines.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible, and those travelling in the area are asked to use extra caution and obey all posted...

Following an extensive search and hiring process, City Manager Norm Gale is pleased to announce that Regina Mandamin has been hired as the Corporation’s new Manager of Indigenous Relations and Inclusion.

Ms. Mandamin is a member of the Wiikwemkoong Unceded Traditional Territory on Manitoulin Island. Born and raised in Thunder Bay, Regina comes to the organization with a breadth of federal, provincial, and First Nations public service experience. Balmoral Avenue Ramp Leading to Harbour Expressway Closed

The Balmoral Avenue ramp leading to the Harbour Expressway is closed for storm sewer repairs. Construction is expected to be complete by the end of next week. 

Vehicles heading south on Balmoral Avenue will not be able to use the right-hand turn lane leading to the off-ramp to travel west on the Harbour Expressway. Drivers will have to make a right-hand turn at the lights instead.

The 70th Anniversary of Chapples Golf Course will be celebrated this July with a commemorative event.

The City is looking for citizens to share their memories of the course through photographs. Photos from the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s would be a welcome addition to upcoming 70 year celebration.
