City Issues Heat Warning Weather Alert as Part of Severe Weather Response Plan

The City of Thunder Bay is issuing an extreme heat warning alert to the community as part of the COVID-19 Severe Weather Response Plan. Environment Canada has indicated a dome of intense heat will move into Northwestern Ontario today with temperatures expected to climb to the low- to mid- thirties, and humidex values near 40°C are expected over the weekend. Rail Work to Close Island Drive on July 6

Scheduled work on the CP Rail line will necessitate closure of a portion of Island Drive on Tuesday, July 6 from 8 am to 5 pm. During this time, traffic will be directed to a temporary detour using Baffin Street.
Motorists are asked to drive with caution in the area of the road closure.

Update on City Services for Step Two of Ontario Reopening Plan

Waste Collection Date Changes for Week of Canada Day

The upcoming Canada Day holiday will result in changes to waste and recycling collection in Area 1, Area 2 and Area 3. Garbage and recycling collection will be one day earlier during the week of June 28 for residents in these Areas. Collection in Area 4 remains unchanged for Friday, July 2.
