Traffic Changes at Edward Street and Redwood Avenue Intersection

Traffic in the construction zone at Edward Street and Redwood Avenue will soon be further reduced to accommodate construction of the roundabout.
Starting on Monday, June 28, southbound traffic on Edward Street will be maintained to Redwood Avenue and then from there, diverted to the west along Redwood Avenue. Northbound traffic on Edward Street will be detoured around the construction zone.

City’s Credit Rating Reaffirmed at AA

S&P Global Ratings has reaffirmed the City of Thunder Bay’s credit rating of AA, with a stable outlook.
Over the next two years the City is expected to maintain overall sound financial results including positive budgetary performance, low municipal debt burden and a robust liquidity position. Efforts to increase reserve balances to fund the City’s capital program were also recognized. These conditions led S&P Global to reaffirm the rating for a fifth consecutive year.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions and out of respect for Indigenous communities across Canada who are grieving, the City of Thunder Bay will not be holding a large, in-person Canada Day event this year. Instead, event organizers will be offering a variety of self-guided Canada Day activities for residents to participate in virtually from July 1-4.

Section of Mountain Road to Close Next Week

To facilitate watermain work, a section of Mountain Road near Whiskyjack Estates will be closed in both directions starting Monday, June 21. The work is expected to take approximately one week.
Access to Fort William Country Club will be from the west (15th Side Road) side.

Call to Artists for Traffic Signal Box Wraps

The City of Thunder Bay is offering a public art opportunity for artists, artist-teams, or designers to create artwork that will be displayed on traffic signal boxes throughout the City.
Up to six different designs by local artists will be selected for installation at up to 12 locations. These graphic vinyl wraps will contribute to the vitality and attractiveness of the streetscape by beautifying City infrastructure. This project is funded in part by the Clean, Green & Beautiful Committee.
