Leaf and Yard Waste Collection Scheduled for May 18 -28

The City of Thunder Bay’s spring curbside collection of organic leaf and yard waste will take place from May 18 – 28, on residents’ regular recycling days.
Homeowners must use Kraft (paper bags) for leaf and yard waste. Kraft bags are available at most hardware and grocery stores. Each filled bag must weigh less than 18 kg (40 lbs.).

Heavy Load Restrictions to Be Lifted May 10

The City of Thunder Bay will be removing seasonal load restrictions on Monday, May 10 at 8:00 am. The roadway weight restrictions are instituted each spring in conjunction with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation’s Provincial Reduced Load Regulations, to protect the roads from damage until the frost is out of the ground.

Thunder Bay Wins Silver Award as a Bicycle Friendly Community

The City of Thunder Bay is honoured to receive a Silver Bicycle Friendly Community Award from the Share the Road Cycling Coalition (STR) and its partner, the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA) for providing citizens with extensive bike lane and multi-use trails to encourage active, healthier living.

Starting on May 1, outdoor burning hours will revert to the pre-pandemic, original permitted hours of 5 pm to 12 am daily after being extended on a short-term basis.
