This summer's Live on the Waterfront, presented by Ontario Power Generation, will look different, but there will be no shortage of talent. Public Comment Invited on Chippewa Park Breakwater Removal Plan

A draft plan for removing the nearly 70-year-old wooden dock and breakwater on the east side of Chippewa Park beach, as well as erosion protection for the adjoining shoreline and maintaining fish habitat is now available for public review.

Red River Road from Court Street to St. Paul Street will be closed to both eastbound and westbound traffic from June 29 to July 3 for set-up of the Waterfront District StrEATery.

“We are happy to support the BIA’s StreEATery application that was part of City Council’s work on patio expansions that has allowed businesses to reopen. City Offers Rent Relief Program for Commercial Tenants

A rent relief program for commercial tenants that lease from the City has been approved by City Council.

“We recognize the financial hardships placed on the City’s commercial tenants due to ongoing closures and operating restrictions during this pandemic,” said Joel DePeuter, Manager of Realty Services.

“Unfortunately, municipalities are not eligible to apply to the Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance program, so we are offering similar assistance to our tenants.”
