Section of James Street Closed for Paving

James Street from Frederica Street to Kingston Street is closed to through traffic for final grading and paving. Completion of the work is expected by the end of next week. The construction schedule is subject to change, as various factors, such as weather, can have an impact on project timelines. 

Businesses within the construction zone remain open and can be accessed using the adjacent side streets. Drivers travelling to these businesses are considered local traffic.

Section of Mountain Road Will Be Closed July 16

A section of Mountain Road between Chippewa Road and 15th Side Road will be closed on July 16 from 8am to 6pm for the installation of new underground infrastructure.

Local access to the northern portion of this closure will be available from Chippewa Road as far as 725 Mountain Road, but no through traffic. Local traffic originating south of this point will be required to access Hwy 61 via 15th Side Road during the closure. Motorists are asked to drive with caution and obey posted signage.

The ShopHERE program offers businesses and artists the opportunity to build a digital presence and minimize the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. COVID-19: City Prepares for Stage Three Reopening

The City of Thunder Bay welcomes today’s Provincial announcement that permits the Thunder Bay District to proceed to stage three reopening beginning Friday, July 17. The City has been working on its reopening plans, putting in place all necessary arrangements. However, to do so in a safe and effective way, the City will require additional time to receive and review the appropriate provincial Orders, which have yet to be published. **Correction: Road Closure Postponed** Section of James Street to Be Closed for Paving

The James Street road closure previously scheduled for Saturday, July 11 will now take place on Monday, July 13.

One block of James Street from Riverview Drive to Victoria Avenue will be closed in both directions on Monday for paving.

Motorists are asked to choose an alternate route during this brief closure.
