City to Host Red Lake Forest Fire Evacuees

The City of Thunder Bay is preparing to receive evacuees from Red Lake today due to the close proximity of the 420 hectares forest fire which is burning less than 5 km south of the town and poses an immediate threat to public safety.

Section of Water Street Closed This Week for Overpass Construction

A short section of Water Street south of the Marina Park Overpass is closed in both directions until Friday to allow the lifting of the second section of the Overpass.
Detours onto Cumberland Street North are marked. Motorists are asked to drive with caution.

Intersection of Simpson Street and Pacific Avenue, and Pacific Avenue Bridge, to Close August 10 to August 12

Starting Monday, Aug. 10, traffic in all directions at the intersection of Simpson Street and Pacific Avenue, as well as the Pacific Avenue Bridge, will be closed for three days. The closure is necessary to facilitate water main installation.
Motorists are asked to drive with caution and follow posted detour routes.

Section of James Street Closing Tuesday, August 4 for Line Painting

Starting at 7 am on Tuesday, August 4, James Street between Frederica Street West and Kingston Street will be closed for line painting, if weather conditions permit. The road will re-open later in the day.
Motorists are asked to observe signage and drive with caution.

Lyon Boulevard West to Close to Traffic on Weekends

To encourage residents to be active outside while maintaining physical distance, Lyon Boulevard West will be closed to vehicular traffic every weekend until the end of September. Users of the multi-use trail on the west side of Boulevard Lake will be able to spread out and use the adjacent roadway.
