City of Thunder Bay Responding to Flooding Situation

The City of Thunder Bay is currently working to address and monitor city-wide flooding risks, following the Flood Watch Warning issued by the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority.
The City is reminding residents to exercise caution in and around area waterways. Drivers are asked to proceed with caution on roads with higher water levels, as the adjacent ditch may not be visible and is a hazard.

City Seeks Feedback on By-law Changes

The City of Thunder Bay is updating its Property Standards and Yard Maintenance By-laws, in a process that will include the creation of two new stand-alone By-laws.
The changes are in response to requests from the public, and will expand the hours, scope and availability of Licensing and Enforcement Officers.

The City Archives is now accepting nominations for their Women’s History Month exhibit. The exhibit was launched in 2013 to celebrate women who have made a contribution to Thunder Bay’s history. New profiles of women are added to the exhibit during Women’s History Month every October.

May 9, 2022 – Curbside collection of leaf and yard waste will be delayed due to the late arrival of spring, taking place between May 31 – June 10, on regular recycling days during that two-week-period.
Only Kraft (paper bags) will be accepted for leaf and yard waste. Bags are available at most hardware and grocery stores. Each filled bag must weigh less than 18 kg (40 lbs.).

Shortage of School Crossing Guards Throughout the City
May 3, 2022 – The City is experiencing a shortage of School Crossing Guards throughout the city, causing vacancies at some locations for the foreseeable future.
