Community Invited to Celebrate Neighbour Day, Presented by Tbaytel

The City of Thunder Bay’s third annual Neighbour Day, presented by Tbaytel, will take place Saturday, June 18. Neighbour Day provides residents the platform to reach out to their neighbours to develop positive and supportive relationships, while encouraging unity and inclusivity.

City Offering Free Compost to Residents

Compost is now available to all residents at no charge at the Solid Waste and Recycling Facility while quantities last, weather permitting.
Access to the compost pick-up area is on John Street Road, between Mapleward Road and Gratton Road. Hours are Monday to Friday from 8 am – 5:30 pm, and Saturday from 8 am – 3:30 pm.

Reconstruction of Balmoral Street Continues Starting Tomorrow

The continuation of the Balmoral Street reconstruction begins tomorrow, starting with the section between Alloy Drive and Central Avenue, which will be closed to traffic in both directions. Detour routes will be posted to route drivers around the area of construction.
During the 2022 construction season, work will take place on Balmoral Street between Alloy Drive and Beverley Street. Work is expected to be completed by the end of October.

The City of Thunder Bay is once again celebrating the individuals that continue to make its School Crossing Guard program a success with the 17th annual Crossing Guard Appreciation Day today.
The School Crossing Guard program has been in place since 1947; currently 55 School Crossing Guards are employed at the City of Thunder Bay.

Edward Street Closure at James and William Street Intersection

Edward Street North, at the James Street and William Street intersection, will be closed to through traffic starting on Wednesday, June 1, for watermain repair work.
Crews expect the work to be completed by the end of the day Thursday, but weather conditions and other factors may impact project timelines.
Drivers are asked to obey the construction signs, drive with caution, and use alternate routes around the construction zone.
