Garbage and Recycling Collection Cancelled Today

Due to severe weather conditions, both garbage and recycling collection is suspended for today. 

Residents who normally receive their collection on Wednesdays, will receive their collection on Saturday, March 26. 

Thursday and Friday garbage and recycling collection days will remain the same. 

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Mask mandates to be lifted, more service counters open

Starting March 21, the Government of Ontario will drop the mandatory mask mandate in the majority of public settings, including city facilities. Mandates will still remain in place for a period of time for public transit, long-term care and health care settings.

Regulations have also been dissolved around gathering restrictions and the vaccination passport. In addition, formal screening measures will no longer be required as of March 21, with the exceptions of Long-Term Care.

City’s Outdoor Skating Rinks Have Closed for the Season

Due to warmer weather conditions the City’s outdoor skating rinks have now closed, with the exception of the outdoor rink at Prince Arthur’s Landing.

Thunder Bay’s outdoor rinks typically close in early to mid-March. Warm temperatures and rain have significantly degraded ice conditions, signaling the end of the season. The mild weather is expected to continue this week.
