City of Thunder Bay Celebrates Winter with SnowDay Activities

The City of Thunder Bay is excited to provide winter activities for the whole family throughout the Family Day weekend. The usual SnowDay on the Waterfront event has been modified for 2022 due to ongoing pandemic impacts. Paramedic Services Respond to Staffing Pressures

Superior North Emergency Medical Services (SNEMS) is experiencing staffing pressures due to COVID-19 isolation.

At this time, service standards continue to be met for urgent calls. Non-urgent calls may experience longer than usual wait times for response. Community members are reminded to continue to use 911 for emergencies.

Nominations Open for the 2022 Respect Awards

Nominations are now open for the 10th Annual respect.Awards, recognizing individuals, businesses, and organizations in the community that have demonstrated leadership in enhancing diversity, inclusion, equity and respect for others.

Woodcrest Road Bridge Closed Until Replacement

Woodcrest Road Bridge, south of John Street Road, will be closed until it is replaced. An engineering assessment occurred due to increased deterioration and the bridge is deemed unsafe for use. The bridge is scheduled for replacement this summer pending Council’s approval of the budget.

Businesses on Woodcrest Road will remain open. A posted detour route is available at Goods Road, off of Belrose Road.

City Recreation Facilities to Reopen Following New Regulations

Effective Monday, Jan. 31 at 12:01 a.m. Ontario will begin the process of gradually easing COVID-19 restrictions, allowing City indoor recreation facilities to reopen at 50% capacity.

With key public health and health system indicators starting to show improvements, the Province will again move to Step 2 of its Roadmap to Reopen.
