Section of James Street Open After Storm Sewer Work

September 7, 2017 - The section of James Street, between Victoria Avenue and Churchill Drive in the vicinity of the Neebing River, will be re-opening on the evening of September 7.

The section of the street was closed in June for storm sewer reconstruction.

The City of Thunder Bay invested $34.7 million in 2017, on road and sidewalk rehabilitation, residential paving, sanitary and storm sewer and watermain repair/replacement, bridge and culvert work, and streetlight renewal.

Treasure Exchange Days Return this Weekend

September 7, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay's popular Treasure Exchange Days returns on Sept. 9 and 10, giving residents a chance to discover one-of-a-kind treasures while reducing waste.

Anyone with gently-used items that they wish to give away can leave them out on the curb any time after 5 pm, on Friday, Sept. 8. Clearly label the items FREE. Over the weekend, residents are encouraged to tour their neighbourhoods to see what treasures they can find.

September 6, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay will host a Pre-Budget Consultation on Tuesday, Sept. 12, where the public is invited to learn more about the 2018 City Budget and discuss what is important to them.

Second Pedestrian Crossover Activated

September 5, 2017 - Thunder Bay's second Pedestrian Crossover has been activated today at the intersection of Walsh Street and Selkirk Street. 

Motorists and cyclists using Walsh Street must now stop when a pedestrian is waiting to cross and the crossover lights start flashing. Crossovers make it easy, safe and convenient for people to cross the street.

Community Gathers to Recognize Overdose in Thunder Bay

August 31, 2017 - Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, a ceremony was held to raise awareness of overdose in Thunder Bay and reduce the stigma of a drug-related death. The ceremony at the entrance to Kam River Park saw participants wear silver and purple ribbons of support and tie ribbons onto a memorial tree in remembrance. The tree, and an accompanying plaque, were installed by the Thunder Bay Drug Strategy recognizing those who have died by overdose.
