The City of Thunder Bay’s Accessibility Advisory Committee is pleased to recognize Transit Driver Appreciation Day on March 18, 2022. The day highlights the roles Transit and Lift+ drivers provide for the City of Thunder Bay, transit customers, and the community as a whole.

“During the COVID-19 pandemic, Thunder Bay Transit and Lift+ operators have been under increased pressure to provide important transportation services for its ridership, including people with disabilities,” said Scott Garner, Municipal Accessibility Specialist. “The Accessibility Advisory Committee acknowledges and thanks these dedicated drivers for their patience and hard work in providing much-needed transportation to the grocery store, doctor’s appointments, vaccine clinics, as well as travel for work, school and social outings.”

The role of the Accessibility Advisory Committee is to guide the City in meeting and exceeding provincial accessibility legislation and remove barriers for people with disabilities. To learn more about the Committee, visit www.thunderbay.ca/AccessibilityAdvisoryCommittee
