The City of Thunder Bay’s Clean, Green & Beautiful Committee is encouraging community organizations to apply for funding for emerging projects that beautify the City and enhance civic pride. The deadline is June 23.

Project ideas should enhance the function, look and feel of where we live, work and play through public art, beautification, heritage and environmental greening initiatives.

Funding is available for smaller scale projects (eligible for Clean, Green & Beautiful Committee contributions up to $5,000) or to leverage funds from other levels of government and/or partnership contributions (cash or in kind).  Larger contributions will be considered based on tangible community benefits and availability of funds.

Examples of eligible projects could include public art, community improvements (artistic painting, landscaping, improved seating areas or other), public education about civic pride, etc.

One of last year’s successful applicants was the Thunder Bay Repair Café. Funding enabled the Thunder Bay Repair Café to join a global effort to reduce waste and promote sustainable, community-focused lifestyles. The Repair Café has provided fun, social community events where visitors can learn to fix their broken household items for free—reducing consumption and diverting waste and lowering emissions produced from recycling/waste disposal.

Apply today! For more information, and to fill out an application by June 23, visit: www.thunderbay.ca/cgbandproud
