People interested in camping at Trowbridge Falls and Chippewa Park this summer will need to act quickly as reservations for both campgrounds are on the rise. Compared with numbers from 2019, campsite reservations at Chippewa Park nearly doubled, and at Trowbridge Falls, they quadrupled.
“As a result of the pandemic, we are seeing increased interest from people looking for recreational opportunities that are closer to home,” said Cory Halvorsen, the City’s Manager of Parks and Open Spaces. “Our campsite bookings are far ahead of where they usually are in mid-April, and the phone keeps ringing.”
All bookings are dependent on potential COVID-19 restrictions at the time of dates reserved, with refunds available if City of Thunder Bay Parks must cancel reservations. Under certain Ontario COVID Response Framework colours, campgrounds could be closed, or services within them restricted.
Residents are encouraged to make their bookings by contacting the City’s Facilities Booking Coordinator at 625-2941.
