Arbor Day is a chance for residents to make Thunder Bay a cleaner, greener and more beautiful place to live. Organized by the City’s Parks & Open Spaces Section, Arbor Day will take place this Saturday, May 25, from 10 am – 12 pm, at Dalhousie Parkette.
The event will include the planting of large caliper trees and shrubs. There will also be an opportunity to speak with members of the EarthCare Thunder Bay’s Community Greening Group and learn more about the urban forest.
“We’re excited to be celebrating Arbor Day in Thunder Bay for the 13th year,” said Mike Dixon, Supervisor of Forestry & Horticulture. “All are welcome to come out and participate by planting trees, learning about the value of the urban forest. Individuals are encouraged to bring shovels, work gloves, pails and wheelbarrows.”
Residents are also encouraged to plant a tree on their own property to celebrate Arbor Day.
