May 31, 2017 - Friday, June 2, marks the 12th Annual Crossing Guard Appreciation Day. On this day, the City of Thunder Bay celebrates the hard working individuals that deliver the crossing guard program in our community.

"The crossing guard program is very important," said Julie Wiejak, Field Supervisor - Crossing Guards. "Our crossing guards provide safe crossing of busy city streets for students throughout Thunder Bay, all-year round, rain or shine. We appreciate their hard work and dedication and we are pleased to recognize our crossing guards through this annual appreciation day."

Residents are encouraged to connect with their local crossing guards and extend their appreciation on this special day for all that they do in our community.

The crossing guard program has been in place since 1947. Currently 66 crossing guards are employed at the City of Thunder Bay. Those interested in joining the crossing guard program can visit  thunderbay.ca/jobs
