The historic carousel at Chippewa Park has been repaired after an unfortunate incident last week which saw the carousel damaged from a vehicle that drove into the ride and surrounding fence.

City staff and outside contractors worked to complete the repairs and reassemble the carousel as quickly as possible. After a thorough inspection and rigorous testing, the repair work was approved by engineering authorities. The ride is scheduled to reopen for regular operation on Saturday, Aug. 5, at 1 pm.

“The amusement rides, and especially the historic carousel, are a major draw for Chippewa Park,” said Cory Halvorsen, Manager of Parks & Open Spaces. “We are grateful that the damage to the carousel was limited and that we were able to repair it in time for our visitors to enjoy before the end of summer.”

The amusement rides at Chippewa Park operate Wednesday to Sunday from 1 - 8 pm until Labour Day.
