The City of Thunder Bay is thrilled to once again host youth events this year in celebration of National Youth Week from May 1 to May 7. The Recreation and Culture Division, along with other community partners, have arranged many fun events for youth ages 10–24 to participate in throughout the week. Event registration opens April 15, and all 2024 Youth Week events are free of charge.
“We have focused on events this year that invite youth to try new experiences and gain new skills while creating lasting memories and new friendships,” says Nina Arcon, Program Supervisor of Children, Youth and Strategic Initiatives. “We are grateful to our community partners who are helping us host unique events for youth that recognize the energy, creativity and potential of young people in Thunder Bay.”
This year's Youth Week festivities feature an array of daily events tailored to inspire and celebrate the talents and aspirations of our local youth. From guided workshops, to cooking creations, to soundtrack making - there's something for every young person to get involved in.
Highlights:
- Youth Week Launch Night at the Kinsmen Youth Centre Wed. May 1 from 4pm to7pm complete with a community barbecue, street art workshops, a Jingle and Fancy Shawl dance and more!
- Paint Night with CAHEP May 2 from 6pm to 8:30pm exclusively for youth ages 16-24

Throughout Youth Week, Youth Move will also be hosting social media challenges, contests, and giveaways to encourage participation and celebrate the achievements of youth in our community.
