May 10, 2017 - Mother's Day marks the opening of nominations to have a notable woman from our city's past featured on the Thunder Bay Archives online web exhibit for the upcoming Women's History Month.
In 2013, the City of Thunder Bay Archives launched an online exhibit recognize women who have contributed to the history and community of Thunder Bay. Annually, women that played significant roles are included and celebrated within the exhibit.
"Last year, Sister Margaret Smith, Mary Riter Hamilton, Lyn McLeod, Patricia Vervoort and Victoria McVicar were added to the exhibit," said Matt Szybalski, Corporate Records Manager and City Archivist. "These Thunder Bay women are celebrated for their significant contributions in public service, health care, education, community development and to the arts. We are looking forward to adding to this exhibit to showcase more of our community's remarkable women."
Submissions from the community are invited starting on Sunday, May 14, and must be submitted by July 1, 2017, in order to be considered. Submissions should include a brief biographical sketch highlighting the individual's significance to Thunder Bay along with some images, including copyright or attribution notes, of the nominee.
Submission can be emailed to archives@thunderbay.ca or submitted by mail to:
