November 24, 2017 - Recently, residents have been receiving home visits from businesses trying to sell water filtration systems, hot water tanks, furnaces, air conditioning units, and utility contracts such as the purchase of electricity and gas.

"While the City provides licenses to these companies that go door-to-door, we do not in any way endorse what they are selling or how they sell it," said James Coady, Manager of Licensing and Enforcement.

"Sales representatives of these companies are not employees of the City, and residents should not allow them into their homes until they have done research on the product, and are comfortable with what is being sold."

The City of Thunder Bay is also reminding residents that City drinking water does not require additional purification treatments.

"Drinking water quality is a top priority and the City's water is monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week," said Erin Marcella-Fui, Operations Supervisor - Water Treatment Plant. "Residents can have confidence in the quality of the drinking water produced at the Bare Point Water Treatment Plant and delivered through the distribution system."

Residents interested in knowing more about the water treatment process or who have additional concerns, can call the Infrastructure & Operations Dispatch at 625-2195.
