August 3, 2017 - The City of Thunder Bay's Crime Prevention Council announced the fifth annual edition of City Hall Sounds today, which will bring live entertainment, local food trucks, and community partner information booths to the South Core neighbourhood.  

"City Hall Sounds is about celebrating Thunder Bay and its people. It's about building our sense of community and making our city safer and more inclusive," said Jeff Upton, Chair of the Crime Prevention Council. "I invite everyone to come out and enjoy these community events and the urban public space at City Hall. It's a great way to spend a lunch hour and it contributes to community safety." 

An initiative of the Crime Prevention Council's Strong Neighbourhoods Working Group, City Hall Sounds will run each Thursday in August from 12 - 1 pm in McGillivray Square - the public space in front of City Hall. Each event will include live music, food trucks, and community partner information booths. These events are open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend at no cost. The aim is to create vibrant, well-used public spaces, which are major determinants of community safety.

"These events aim to provide an opportunity for residents to connect with others who live and work in the neighbourhood," said Lee-Ann Chevrette, Coordinator - Thunder Bay Crime Prevention Council. "It's also a chance to connect with community partners and learn more about the work they are doing to improve community safety." 

City Hall Sounds will feature live performances from local musicians. The entertainment schedule for the series is as follows:
